SkyWest Airlines pilot path to United With just one application, opportunities at United await experienced SkyWest Airlines First Officers and Captains

New United Pilot Program at SkyWest Airlines

United has created a single application for all SkyWest Airlines pilots who are interested in flying for United. Candidates who complete this application will be considered for both the standard United First Officer selection process as well as the new United Pilot Program at SkyWest Airlines. Pilots will be advised of which opportunity they are selected for via email before starting the selection process.   

Pilots who are successful in the standard First Officer process will be placed in an upcoming United First Officer class. ​

Pilots who are successful in the United Pilot Program process will transition to United after flying 1,600 PIC hours while in the program as a Captain at SkyWest Airlines.

Eligibility:

To be considered for the United Pilot Program at SkyWest Airlines:​

  • Serve as a current SkyWest Airlines First Officer who has flown at least 400 hours at SkyWest Airlines* OR current SkyWest Airlines Captain​

  • See Chapter 2 of the program guide for a complete list of requirements  ​

To be considered for the standard First Officer interview:​

  • Meet all United First Officer requirements found here

*Current SkyWest Airlines First Officers who do not have over 400 hours at the carrier, but do have more than 400 hours of flight time that qualifies under FAR Part 121.436 (commonly referred to as Near-Entry Captains), are eligible for the United Pilot Program at SkyWest.
