Overview

 

Manages a functional department and may serve as Manager on Duty, overseeing entire kitchen at times. Responsible for financial, operational, quality and regulatory performance of the assigned department. Oversees the staff, manages resources, schedules and performance issues. Responsible for production schedules, timeliness and quality of the product. Serves as key resource and leader for all operational areas of the kitchen.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manages the assigned functional department, coordinates production schedules with other departments to meet overall operational needs of the kitchen
  • Serves as Manager on Duty
  • Supervises shift managers and employees, responsible for employee scheduling, attendance, discipline, payroll, interviewing, accident investigation and safety awareness
  • Responsible for departmental quality, productivity, overall performance, food safety compliance, regulatory compliance and departmental safety programs
  • Establishes department goals and objectives to support kitchen and corporate initiatives
  • Participates as a key member of the kitchen leadership team to ensure corporate and local policy and procedures are implemented and maintained
  • Participates with kitchen and corporate resources to implement Lean processes and objectives into the production process

 

 

 

 


Required 

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

 

Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of catering operations preferred
  • Strong leadership skills required
  • Ability to work in a high paced environment and in temperature controlled (cold) production areas required
  • Ability to effectively work with all levels of the organization, employees and outside suppliers required
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills required
  • Strong computer skills including use of email, Word, Excel and PowerPoint required
  • Fluent in English required
  • Ability to work various shifts within a 24/7 operation, including weekends and holidays required

Experience

  • 3 - 5 years in catering / food services operations preferred  
  • 3 - 5 years in progressive leadership positions required
  • Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement experience preferred

 

Other

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Must have valid active state issue driver's license
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
