Job overview and responsibilities
The Associate – Community Affairs Engagement is primarily responsible for supporting United’s global volunteerism initiatives.  Duties include administering & troubleshooting United’s volunteerism database, administering volunteer programs and assisting with team projects. The ideal candidate has excellent organization, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
Program management and administration
  • Collaborate in assigned program implementations through completion to achieve corporate responsibility goals, primarily related to employee engagement in giving and volunteerism
  • Gain proficiency in employee giving and volunteer system features and functionality. Provide support including the entry and editing of employee volunteer opportunities,  and provide assistance in resolving employee issues
  • Create and distribute reporting from employee giving and volunteer system as needed
  • Assist in the development of CCA DIY volunteering menu leveraging internal and external relationships. Administer DIY requests across the system
  • Plan employee volunteer projects as assigned and demonstrate ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision    
Collaboration Across the Enterprise
  • Support United Volunteer Ambassador Teams in hubs and larger locations. Assist with volunteer event planning to foster employee non-profit engagement opportunities in their local community
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employees in other departments throughout the company. Continuously gather input and feedback to inform the development of new programs or the revision of existing programs

External Vendor Management

  • Assist in managing outside suppliers and vendors that are critical in the execution of United’s customer and employee community engagement programs


  • Support Corporate and Community Affairs department’s story telling ability by gathering and suggesting story content that positions United as a responsible corporate citizen.
  • Bachelors degree in business, marketing or non-profit administration
  • Minimum 2 years professional / business experience in Corporate Social Investment and / or Volunteerism
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Strong familiarity with non-profit sector operations and nuances
  • Proven track record in prioritizing and meeting strict deadlines
  • Very well organized and ability to coordinate and multi-task various responsibilities
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on teamwork
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
