Technical Operations

Technical Operations is the maintenance, repair and overhaul division of United. The department includes aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities teams, supply chain teams and more.

Job overview and responsibilities
We are looking for a passionate Data Analyst to turn data into information and information into insight to help drive business decisions. This candidate will be part of offshore Data and Analytics team based on Delhi, India in Technical Operations team. We are seeking creative, driven and detail-oriented individuals who enjoy tackling tough problems with data and insights. Individuals who have a curiosity and desire to solve problems are encouraged to apply. High-level responsibilities of the role include:
  • Extracts data from a variety of sources for use in analysis and models; completes ad-hoc reporting and data analysis
  • Identify relevant data, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Analyze and generate actionable insights from structured and unstructured data and effectively communicate findings and solutions with various groups
  • Perform routine reporting and ad hoc analysis of operational metric and other management reports
  • Create and develop presentations for United leadership and external stakeholders
  • Assist with developing and using statistical modeling for accuracy in forecast improvements
This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded.
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field like Math, Statistics, Operations Research
  • Proven comfort and an intellectual curiosity for working with very large sets of data, pulling in relevant team members to address identified - and sometimes undiscovered - needs
  • Be experienced in manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high dimensionality data from various sources to highlight patterns and relationships
  • Be proficient in using database querying tools and able to write complex queries and procedures using Teradata SQL and/or Microsoft TSQL
  • Strong knowledge of SAS, R, or Python
  • Be familiar with JavaScript, D3, HTML, CSS
  • Be familiar with one or more reporting tools – Spotfire / Tableau 
  • Superior attention to accuracy and detail
  • At least 2 years of experience in analytics 
  • About 4-6 weeks of travel to US in a year required
  • Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position


  • Master's Degree in a quantitative field and/or MBA
  • Certified Analytics Professional
  • Have knowledge of predictive modeling, statistical modeling, and test design
