Flight Operations

The Flight Operations team includes aircraft pilots and pilot support.
 
Job overview and responsibilities
Performs non-pilot duties to support the Chief Pilot Office on daily operational/administrative duties.
  • Monitors daily flight report activity and forwards key incident reports for local management use
  • May assist in budgetary efforts, complete base audits and manage local reports
  • Some audits include the OSHA facility audits and complete the audit report for the station’s Manager of Ground Safety
  • Process CA law and other state law SDI payments
  • Process the local expense reports for office
  • Well versed at all uSource
  • Will coordinate all new base systems and ensure the other staff is trained on all new systems
  • Each base has airport systems and badging requirements and procedures that they will need to learn that particular airport
  • Completes check airman monthly pay report
  • Resolves non-flight issues and provides and interfaces with other field, headquarters, ALPA and station operations organizations
  • Works with the station control center and customer service operations to facilitate decisions or resolve issues affecting the daily operation
  • Attends for the base several weekly and monthly meetings for the station to include safety, airport authority and FIS meetings
  • Will be responsible for pilot Records and needs to be knowledgeable in Pilot Qualifications
  • This position will be responsible for all FAA mandated pilot qualifications entries and crew legalities
  • Provides a first point of contact with pilots in administering and communicating operational policies, procedures and facilitation direction to resolve issues
  • Will assist Base Manager with Pilot Retirement process
  • Researches collective bargaining and contract interpretation to support the Chief Pilot Office in personnel and grievance issues
  • Grievance handling; receives, logs and enters grievance into local database
  • Assists the Chief Pilot in researching the grievance and prepares the case, can attend the grievance hearing
  • Provides direction in the absence of flight management in non-flying and non-discipline matters
  • Will be the primary contact for all pilots returning from furlough or new hires
  • Pilot dependability oversight for daily PRT tracking, pilot sick leave timer, works with Pilot Services Center to coordinate leaves of absence and Illness leave and medical grounding
  • Assists in coordinating base activities, special projects, recognition efforts or providing general work guidance to operational staff as assigned
  • Acts as a backup Business Manager while he/she is out of office at meetings or on vacation
  • Will assist in training and mentoring the other administrative staff at the base
  • Will cooperatively work together with administrative staff to achieve goals
  • Is the base Continuous Improvement Coordinator for each base
  • Interfaces with Human Resources on various complex pilot issues; pilot pay issues, travel issues, medical, life insurance and wellness
  • Coordinates and decision maker in crew desk transactions and scheduling concerning trip drops for flight management
  • These include emergency drops, death in family, and pass travel processing if necessary
  • Coordinate scheduling for the base flight qualified management team and coordinate coverage and calendars to include all Special Assigned pilots that will work month to month at the base
  • Serves as local coordinator of new and/or ad-hoc pilot training programs, i.e. OTL, Fuel Efficiency, Enhanced CLR and Sabre
Required
  • High School Diploma, GED or education equivalent 
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred

  • College Degree
  • 2 years of Flight Ops Experienced
