Senior Analyst - Talent Selection and Assessment

The Human Resources team helps attract and recruit diverse talent, and works to provide employees with competitive benefits, leadership resources and the support to be successful at United.



This role specializes in the development, validation, and implementation of selection tools to evaluate and select job candidates. The incumbent will work closely with various operating and business departments to understand, design, and execute optimal hiring solutions that impact United's global success.

  • Contributes large-scale assessment programs for frontline employees as well as bespoke assessment development for low-volume corporate positions
  • Performs complex professional and technical personnel work in assessments including job analyses, item writing, statistical analyses, and administration for a variety of assessments
  • Monitors effectiveness and fairness of selection procedures through utility and adverse impact analyses
  • Gathers, prepares, compiles, reviews and maintains important personnel information reports and dashboards
  • Interacts with HR leadership, business partners, and other stakeholders to recommend, interpret, and support existing policies, methods and procedures related to talent assessments
  • Manages relationships with external assessment vendors and consultants on assessment projects (SOWs, RFPs, ROI, etc.)
  • Ensures selection systems are consistent with professional standards and in compliance with the EEOC’s Uniform Guidelines other applicable federal, state and local law



  • Masters degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Educational Psychology, or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in selection assessment development (job analysis, item writing, validation, scoring, adverse impact analysis) or psychometric analyses
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and psychometric abilities
  • Proficiency in at least one statistical analysis software (SPSS, R, SAS, etc.)
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)  
  • Detailed knowledge of principles and guidelines for test design and laws/regulations related to pre-employment selection
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position


  • PhD or all but dissertation (ABD) in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Educational Psychology, or related field
