Senior Developer – Information Technology
As a Senior Developer at United Airlines, you play a crucial role in creating and maintaining strong partnerships between business, architecture, and delivery teams. You’ll provide technical leadership, not just coding in a silo to get a solution out of the door. You’ll be a champion of continuous delivery practices and will encourage the team to embrace true software craftsmanship ideals. Strong coding and communication skills, plus on-time delivery and execution, are keys to success for this role.   • Deliver across the entire application life cycle from concept, design, build, deploy, test, release to app stores and support
  • Creatively architect and design programs to meet the goals and requirements of various projects
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing project tasks on schedule and by leading, mentoring and interacting with other developers
  • Lead conversations with multiple groups and understand back-end system/services to access when building out fronts for testing
  • Perform research and development to evaluate emerging technologies and their potential to optimize the platform
  • BS/BA (preferably in a technical or scientific field) and/or equivalent work experience required
Knowledge / Skills
  • Experience with ASP.NET, C#, and .NET framework toolsets
  • Proficiency in Oracle PL/SQL or T/SQL
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of airline ticketing, refunds and accounting
  • Prior experience planning and testing large scale data migrations
  • Experience working with offshore development teams 
  • 5+ years of experience working with object-oriented languages and design patterns
  • 2+ years of direct interaction with application owners and end-users in requirement definition and testing
  • Proficiency at building scalable, custom applications from inception to delivery  
  • 2+ years of experience designing and delivering enterprise level applications
  • Leadership of development and/or project teams
  • Development language certifications applicable to the requested skillsets 
  • Prior experience working with a geographically distributed workgroup
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • May be asked to provide writing and coding samples
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
  • Willing and able to travel as needed for business (Up to 20% / between Houston and Chicago offices)
