Specialist - Continuous Improvement 

 

Overview

 

Responsible for leading project teams of typically two to six team members focused on solving key business problems across all functional groups in the company. Will work with frontline as well as departmental leadership to identify root causes, develop short and long term solutions and implement lasting change. Projects range in duration and complexity from quick analyses lasting two to three weeks to large scale transformative efforts that last four to six months. This role would also be responsible with helping guide the deployment and development of resources within Continuous Improvement and Enterprise Optimization (CIEO) as well as support developing a strategic approach both within CIEO and with clients on project work.

 

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced Lean principles (Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Standard Work Cellular Flow, Pull Replenishment, Demand and Production smoothing, Mistake Proofing, Total Productive Maintenance) or advanced Six Sigma principles (DMAIC approach, SIPOC, Process Capability, Root Cause Analysis, Normal and Non-Normal data Statistical Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Design of Experiments) to process improvement

  • Contribute to the development and codification of standard Lean Six Sigma methods and training materials

  • Coach several teams, trained Black Belts and trained Green Belts through Lean Six Sigma DMAIC and exercise considerable judgment in directing the Green belts on the performance of their Lean Six Sigma projects

  •  Deliver just-in-time training of six sigma tools and methodologies to Black Belts, Green Belts, business teams and business leaders

  • Participate in classroom training as needed

  • Work closely with business leadership to develop key performance measurements and reporting; Facilitate Black Belts, Green Belts and business teams through project tollgate as well as governance reviews

  • Work with functional and cross functional business teams to identify opportunities for improvement, gather data, analyze and develop improvements and innovations, and prepare presentations to communicate project status


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If candidate is not LSS Black Belt certified, then he or she must have completed the LSS Black Belt training and passed the LSS Black Belt exam, as well as be in progress on at least one of the real-life LSS Black Belt projects that are required for certification

 

Education 

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Technology, or Business Administration    OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology or Business Administration and 5 years of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate experience in Continuous Improvement
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • MBA is a bonus 

Certification 

  • Black Belt certification from an LSS training/certification vendor that includes completion of a real-life project, formal in-class training, and exam preferred
  • If not LSS Black Belt certified, candidate must have completed the LSS Black Belt Training and passed the LSS Black Belt exam, as well as be in progress on at least one of the real-life LSS Black Belt projects that are required for certification

Knowledge/Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of professional work experience using Lean principles including Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Standard Work Cellular Flow, Pull Replenishment, Demand and Production smoothing, Mistake Proofing, Total Productive Maintenance required
  • Six Sigma principles including DMAIC approach, SIPOC, Process  required
  • Minimum 3 years of LSS experience preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience using statistical analysis preferred
  • Capability, Root Cause Analysis, Normal and Non-Normal data Statistical Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Design of Experiments experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of professional work experience using statistical analysis required
  • Completion of multiple cross functional projects involving non-normal data and design of experiments (DOE), using Lean Six Sigma DMAIC to complete required

Experience

  •      Minimum 1 year of experience in continuous improvement project implementation required 
  • Minimum 3 years of airline business experience preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of diverse CI portfolio implementation preferred
  • Strong GB and BB certification, i.e. 60% or higher preferred
  • Minimum 1 year GB and BB training experience preferred

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
