Job overview and responsibilities
The primary purpose of Manager – IT Application Development for Customer Recovery is to lead a team that provides solutions for our Customers impacted by various disruptions caused by irregular operations – (weather, mechanical, overbookings, plane downgrades, etc.)  It is critical that this role establish and maintain strong relationships with both senior and operating level business leaders, IT leaders, the IT & Business PMOs, and the AO IT leadership team. The manager role will help define business problems, identify and evaluate solutions, and drive successful implementations.  You’ll manage the day to day operations for a portfolio of applications to ensure consistent and stable operations and develop future state technology roadmaps.


Business Interface:
  • Establish and maintain strong business relationships with both senior and operating level business leaders
  • Understand and provide recommendations for improvement of business process by leveraging existing IT capabilities and define new strategic IT capabilities
  • Stay abreast of business strategy, goals, objectives and operational performance
  • Be a Thought Partner, i.e. engaged with business owners/business process development
Application Delivery/Support:
  • Accountable for gaining and maintaining alignment of delivery success criteria with business partners
  • Accountable for effective project management and delivery of work requests and projects within committed budget, schedule and quality for individual projects while also meeting overall department performance goals
  • Accountable for identifying needs, securing commitments and monitoring progress of deliverables from internal and external service provider teams
  • Responsible for organizing and maintaining performance of any application issues in accordance with agreed SLAs
IT Process Mgmt. and Administrative:
  • Accountable for administrative management of 2-10 IT professionals, either as direct reports or sourced - HR administration, salary administration, time reporting, etc.
  • Define, prioritize, allocate resources, track and provide status reporting of work assignments, projects and programs
  • Budget and cost management for projects/programs
  • Ensure IT application development process disciplines (solution delivery, project management, work requests, QA, etc.) and standards are established, effectively managed and performed
Organizational Effectiveness/People:
  • Provide leadership by establishing department and individual goals
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining an overall sourcing plan which includes creative sourcing options and alternatives to ensure supply capacities meet work demand, role and skill set requirements and cost objectives
  • Responsible for department and individual performance assessments and improvement plans
  • Responsible for coaching, counseling, assisting employees to develop individual career development and training plans



  • Education
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration and/or equivalent work experience required
    • Master’s degree a plus
    • 5 years’ experience in Application or SQL development.
    • Knowledge of several of the following languages and technologies: SQL, C#.NET, Relational Database Design, GIT, SVN, TFS, Unit Testing, XML, JavaScript, AJAX, CSS, HTML, Windows platforms
    • Experience supervising professional technical staff.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong project organization skills, including prioritization and planning
    • Ability to manage multiple deliverables both short and long-term in a busy and aggressive environment, while staying flexible to dynamic needs and priority levels
  • Demonstrated understanding of performance management, business consulting and project management
  • 5 years of leadership experience in an IT or management related role
  • Hands-on experience in application analysis, design, and development
  • Experience in the travel industry, especially airline related
  • Experience in application development, multiple major project delivery of med-large scale projects/programs
  • Hands-on experience in implementing DevOps practices such as continuous integration/continuous delivery
  • Experience in working within a cross-functional technical organization with a matrix reporting relationship
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
